Why Host an Event With One Bag Trash?

Hosting an environmental event can help your institution engage students, volunteers and community members in practical environmental action.

As an approved host, your institution may be able to:

  • Organize an environmental event in your own community or campus.
  • Encourage student leadership, teamwork and civic engagement.
  • Raise awareness about litter, waste management and environmental responsibility.
  • Collaborate with One Bag Trash on event planning and implementation.
  • Receive guidance on applicable event procedures, rules and coordination.
  • Explore opportunities to host a SPOGOMI Regional Qualifier, subject to approval.

A Special Opportunity: SPOGOMI Regional Qualifiers

SPOGOMI is a competitive activity in which teams collect and sort litter according to established rules.

Through the regional qualifier initiative, eligible universities and organizations may have the opportunity to host a tournament in their area.

Where the approved competition structure allows, participating teams may compete for progression to the National Qualifier. Eligibility, advancement and representation will follow the official rules and event-specific approval.

Expressions of interest may be submitted by:

  • Universities and colleges.
  • Schools and educational institutions.
  • Youth and student organizations.
